MONSEY – Police are investigating how another child ended up getting hit by a vehicle and seriously injured in Rockland County.
The latest incident happened shortly after 9 p.m. in Monsey, on Ronald Drive, near the corner of Nancy Lane.
Witnesses say the young victim is a girl, about 11 years old.
They say she was riding a bike when she was struck by a Lexus SUV. The driver remained at the scene.
Town of Ramapo Police said the badly injured child was rushed by ambulance to Westchester Medical Center. Her condition was not immediately known.
Ramapo Police had the intersection closed off well past midnight while they took pictures and reconstructed how the accident happened.
There have been numerous similar accidents over the past couple of years involving children getting struck by vehicles in Ramapo, some of them resulting in fatalities.
