NEW PALTZ – The Trump Administration may have pulled the plug on activities related to DEI – Diversity, Equity, Inclusion – at least on the federal level, but SUNY New Paltz and the rest of the State University system is not altering its policies.
New Paltz University President Dr. Darrell Wheeler said they will continue to adhere to the state guidelines and that the chancellor will not preemptively alter any of the state or SUNY’s policies regarding DEI.
“Until it is determined that we must or will do something that we operate under the same guidance that we did last year in terms of diversity, equity and inclusion as clear and component of who we are and how we operate as an institution,” he said.
The local impact of the new federal DEI rule has been felt by the US Military Academy at West Point as it has disbanded its related programs and organizations.
