Village upgrades water system with help from EPA

VILLAGE OF FLORIDA – A project to upgrade the Village of Florida’s water system should be completed this year, according to Mayor Daniel Harter, Jr.

The US Environmental Protection Agency has been assisting with the upgrade to replace outdated technologies and equipment.

Florida has been faced with ongoing issues due to high levels of disinfection byproducts, or contaminants that form when chemicals used to clean the water react with natural organic matter like decaying leaves.

The EPA “works hand-in-hand with businesses and communities to help them meet environmental requirements is a way that benefits both human health and economic growth,” said Regional Administrator Mike Martucci. “Through compliance assistance, we pave the way for entities to comply with statutes while reducing risks, fostering innovation, and building strong partnerships that keep our communities safe and our economies strong.”
