JD Vance: Europe’s Open Borders and Speech Crackdowns Leading to ‘Civilizational Suicide’

By yourNEWS Media Newsroom

U.S. Vice President JD Vance has issued a stark warning that Europe is at risk of “civilizational suicide” due to unrestricted migration policies and increasing censorship that threaten the fundamental liberties upon which Western civilization was built.

In an interview with Fox News’ Laura Ingraham on Friday evening, Vance emphasized that the cultural and religious foundations of Western civilization, which helped shape the United States, are now under siege by policies that undermine national identity and sovereignty.

“The entire idea of Christian civilization that led to the founding of the United States of America was formed in Europe,” Vance stated. “The cultural bonds, the religious bonds – these things are going to last beyond political disagreements. But I think that Europe, and frankly, I would have said this about America a year ago, is at risk of engaging in civilizational suicide.”

The Vice President specifically criticized open-border policies that have allowed for mass migration across European nations, as well as increasingly authoritarian restrictions on free speech imposed by EU and UK governments.

“They are unable or unwilling – too many countries – to control their borders,” Vance said. “You see them starting to limit the free speech of their own citizens even as those citizens are protesting against things like the border invasion that got [U.S. President] Donald Trump and a number of European leaders elected.”

Vance also pointed out that the United States is not insulated from Europe’s failures, noting that illegal migrants who enter Europe unchecked can then use it as a launchpad to reach America.

The Vice President has previously raised concerns over recently enacted censorship laws in the UK and European Union, which allow regulators to impose billions in fines on American social media companies for content deemed unacceptable by European authorities.

“I want Europe to thrive. I want them to be an important ally. Part of that is going to be Europe respecting its own people, respecting its own sovereignty, and America can’t do that job for them,” Vance said.

Warning against unchecked immigration policies, he added: “If you have a country like Germany, where you have another few million immigrants come in from countries that are totally culturally incompatible with Germany, then it doesn’t matter what I think about Europe. Germany will have killed itself, and I hope they don’t do that because I love Germany, and I want Germany to thrive.”

Vance’s remarks echo the speech he delivered in February at the Munich Security Conference in Germany, where he told European leaders that their greatest threat comes not from external actors like Russia or China but from those within their own governments who restrict freedoms and erode national sovereignty.
