JD Vance Makes GOP History as First Sitting Vice President to Serve as RNC Finance Chair

Vice President JD Vance will spearhead GOP fundraising efforts for the 2026 midterms, aiming to expand congressional majorities and advance President Trump’s MAGA agenda.

Vice President JD Vance has been unanimously appointed as finance chair of the Republican National Committee (RNC), marking the first time in history that a sitting vice president has held this position within the party. The RNC Executive Committee’s vote establishes Vance as a central figure in fundraising and strategy for the 2026 midterm elections, with a mission to grow the GOP’s majorities and fully enact President Donald Trump’s legislative agenda.

🚨 THIS IS A MASTERCLASS: VP JD Vance just absolutely excoriated the whole premise behind globalism.

Future of the Republican Party right here. He says the solution to globalists' hunger for cheap labor in other countries is to bring back American innovation. He is RIGHT.… pic.twitter.com/uxZKMk4D4j

Vance told Fox News Digital that his primary focus is ensuring the success of the MAGA movement through electoral victories in the next congressional cycle. “But to fully enact the MAGA mandate and President Trump’s vision that voters demanded, we must keep and grow our Republican majorities in 2026,” he said. “I’m excited to work with RNC leadership to build the war chest we need to deliver those victories next November.”

President Trump praised Vance’s appointment, stating, “He knows how to fight and win tough races. I’m glad he’ll be working with Michael Whatley to help us secure our elections, get out the vote, and win big next year!” Trump added that Vance will do a “fantastic job as RNC Finance Chair.”

RNC Chairman Michael Whatley described Vance as “one of our Party’s most talented messengers” and a “thought leader who has helped remake the GOP into the party of working Americans representing the forgotten men and women of our country.” Whatley added, “I am continuously thankful to President Trump for the leadership and direction he provides the Party and am honored to work with Vice President Vance to grow our party and ensure President Trump has the votes in Congress to Make America Great Again.”

When I became RNC Chairman, President Trump gave me a clear directive: secure the vote.

We successfully did that in 2024.

Now, we're already hard at work for 2026, setting the rules of the road making it easier to vote and harder to cheat. https://t.co/1quoKGcfpF

Election integrity remains a major focus for the GOP. “When I became RNC Chairman, President Trump gave me a clear directive: secure the vote,” Whatley said. “We successfully did that in 2024.” He added that preparations for 2026 are well underway, emphasizing their work on “setting the rules of the road making it easier to vote and harder to cheat,” along with expanding the party’s volunteer network and pursuing legal avenues to ensure ballot security.

Reflecting on Trump’s recent address to Congress, Whatley described the speech as an “absolute tour de force,” saying it both celebrated accomplishments and urged continued action. “It was that the rest of the administration and Congress need to see this through, need to see the vision accomplished, and need to carry out this implementation,” Whatley told Breitbart News Daily.
