Birds of a feather Flock Together #黑玄燕鷗 #關島 #旅遊 #關島沙灘 #城市印象 #Merizo #black noddy

The black noddy, a medium-sized seabird, typically migrates to Guam in April to nest and raise its young. Historically, these birds nested in trees on Cocos Island, but they were eventually driven to the shores of Malesso', where they nested in about five main trees-two at a tourist site and three gagu, or ironwood, trees on private land.
According to media reports, three of these trees were cut down in March 2023 because they were interfering with the daily lives of local residents. It was also reported that there were about 350 nests in the felled trees last year, while there were about 250 nests in the two remaining trees.
At Merizo Pier Park in southern Guam, there is a very unique tree that has hundreds of black noddies nesting in it, which is a spectacle to behold. Next to it is the Merizo Bell Tower, a century-old stone clock tower, and a unique Christmas tree made of hundreds of hand-painted coconuts arranged in the shape of a Christmas tree. The tropical seeds were decorated by villagers and others with people's names, personal messages, island parishes, artwork and holiday wishes.
Merizo Pier Park also overlooks Cocos Island Resort, a 1.4-kilometer-long, 250-meter-wide island of shell and coral sand with a clean, white sandy beach that is quite dreamy. The facilities on the island include jet skis, parachute towing, diving, sea motorcycles, parachute towing, diving, and sea motorcycles. It is a popular spot for Japanese tourists, but is currently closed.
