Today I met Josephine, who organizes a local event called Prom Extravaganza which goal is to give away free dresses, suits, shoes and accessories to teens who are going to attend prom.
Everything is donated by businesses and local communities and run by volunteers who are happy to help high schoolers find the perfect attire.
It's a perfect opportunity for me to understand a bit more about why the prom is so important in American culture.
