RNC Presses Forward on Election Integrity Despite Trump’s Victory

The Republican National Committee continues its legal offensive to secure voting processes nationwide after President Donald Trump’s election win.

As President Donald Trump continues to swiftly implement his policy agenda, the Republican National Committee is pressing forward with aggressive efforts to secure election integrity, having logged recent victories in legal battles across several key states, according to a new report by the Daily Caller. The RNC’s recent success includes favorable rulings in Arizona, Georgia, and Washington state, all of which reinforce the party’s strategy to proactively influence election laws ahead of future cycles.

In Arizona, the Court of Appeals ruled in favor of the RNC in March, determining that Secretary of State Adrian Fontes failed to “substantially comply” with the necessary rulemaking procedures when finalizing the 2023 Election Procedures Manual. The GOP’s 2024 lawsuit challenged the manual, stating it would diminish protections against non-citizen voting and limit challenges to early ballots. “These cases represent that a lot of times, things get started and resolved during an election year, but many times they don’t, and the RNC doesn’t walk away from them,” an RNC official said. “We are here to see these things through.”

In Georgia, the RNC successfully intervened in a lawsuit brought by a labor union seeking to overturn absentee ballot deadlines. The union aimed to extend the state’s existing deadline, but a federal court sided with the RNC and dismissed the challenge in March 2025, ruling that Georgia’s absentee ballot rules stand as written.

“When I became RNC chairman last year, President Trump gave me a clear directive: secure the vote. We successfully did that in 2024, and we are already hard at work to do it again in 2026,” RNC Chairman Michael Whatley said. “These three cases are important victories in that mission, but they are just the start.”

In Washington, the state Supreme Court ruled unanimously in favor of the RNC, determining that Washington’s signature verification law does not violate the state’s constitution. The RNC had initially entered the legal dispute in 2023 to defend the law. An RNC official emphasized that despite Trump’s election, efforts to strengthen election laws are ongoing. “Just because the election happened and President Trump won doesn’t mean we stopped or we’ve accomplished some sort of goal or that we’ve reached the finish line — because we haven’t,” the official said.

During the 2024 cycle, the RNC initiated over 100 lawsuits in 20 states focused on election integrity, according to party records. The party’s efforts escalated after the expiration of a 1982 consent decree, which for decades restricted its ability to pursue election-related legal action. That decree, brought by a Democratic National Committee lawsuit, was lifted in 2018, paving the way for the RNC to reassert itself in election law battles starting in 2022.

I spoke to a former party official a while back who told me that the biggest problem in 2020 was not having poll watchers and lawyers on standby ready to call bs and file suits immediately. Since, the party has adjusted to do such and it appears to be paying off. https://t.co/geFoq1Qepj

Following the 2022 midterms, then-Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel created a dedicated election integrity department, enabling resource coordination across legal, communications, and political divisions. The 2024 cycle focused on expanding this infrastructure in preparation for upcoming elections. “As we continue, we’re going to leverage all of those advantages to do more of what we did,” an RNC official said, noting plans to further expand volunteer efforts involving poll workers and attorneys, alongside ongoing legal action.

Then-RNC co-chairs Michael Whatley and Lara Trump assumed control of the election integrity department in early 2024, launching a “Protect The Vote Tour” to train poll watchers. Participants were instructed to report suspicious activity to RNC lawyers or the party’s election integrity war room. According to Lara Trump, the effort yielded approximately 20,000 tips, some submitted via X, formerly Twitter. Trump previously noted that this real-time reporting capability was crucial to addressing potential issues during the election.

“Chairman Whatley has been very clear that we are not just going to focus on places where we’ve got a tight congressional race or anything like that,” an RNC official said. “We are active in places like Washington and Maryland and other places, because he wanted to create a national program.”

Beyond the RNC’s litigation and field efforts, federal legislation is also under discussion. President Trump and Speaker Mike Johnson announced plans in April 2024 to advance the SAVE Act, which would require proof of U.S. citizenship to vote in federal elections. “I anticipate that there will be forthcoming legislation,” the RNC official said. “The SAVE act is still around. That’s a great piece of legislation. It doesn’t have literally everything in it. But it was very focused around some of the issues around non-citizens voting and overseas voting.”
