Shen Yun Performing Arts’ 2025 global tour is set to bring its breathtaking performances to The Hippodrome Theatre in Baltimore, Maryland, from March 15-16, along with nine shows in San Diego, California, and multiple performances across Australia.

Ahead of the highly-anticipated performances, dignitaries from Maryland, San Diego, and Australia have issued a plethora of proclamations and letters of congratulations, applauding Shen Yun’s remarkable contributions to preserving traditional culture and inspiring audiences worldwide.

Founded in 2006 and based in New York, Shen Yun is the world’s premier classical Chinese dance and music company. Showcasing 5,000 years of traditional Chinese culture and heritage, the company aims to portray ancient China prior to the ravages of communism and has since expanded from a single troupe to eight equally-sized troupes that tour and perform across the globe simultaneously.

A model of integrity and cultural excellence

U.S. Senator Chris Van Hollen praised Shen Yun’s dedication to sharing traditional Chinese culture “in an entertaining, educational, and inspiring manner,” issuing a proclamation recognizing its role in cultural preservation during its 2025 world tour.

Maryland Governor Wes Moore, Lieutenant Governor Aruna Miller, and Secretary of State Susan C. Lee jointly awarded a “Governor’s Citation” to Shen Yun’s host, the Washington D.C. Falun Dafa Association. Their proclamation lauded the organization for demonstrating “a high degree of integrity and talent, earning our utmost trust and respect,” while also commending its “outstanding service to the citizens of (Maryland).” This recognition highlights not only Shen Yun’s artistic brilliance but also its deep community impact.

Baltimore Mayor Brandon M. Scott, speaking on behalf of the city’s residents, expressed gratitude to the troupe: “As a premier Chinese classical dance and music troupe, you share China’s rich cultural traditions and, through captivating performances, uplift countless spirits.” He added, “Thank you for adding cultural richness to our city,” extending his best wishes for Shen Yun’s 18th global tour.

Maryland House Speaker Adrienne A. Jones further emphasized Shen Yun’s significance: “Through dance, costumes, and music, Shen Yun revives 5,000 years of Chinese culture, inspiring audiences worldwide. Relying on its own strength and resources as a nonprofit, it has become the fastest-growing performing arts group in U.S. history, touring over 200 cities annually and reaching nearly two million people. Congratulations on this extraordinary milestone!”

Maryland Delegate Greg Wims also acknowledged Shen Yun’s global influence, stating, “This year marks Shen Yun’s 18th world tour, contributing to global stage performing arts through dance, music, and costumes, reviving the splendor of 5,000 years of Chinese civilization.”

A guardian of traditional Chinese culture

Shen Yun will grace San Diego with seven performances from March 13-19 at the California Center for the Arts in Escondido, followed by two more on April 12 at the San Diego Civic Theatre. In anticipation, over a dozen San Diego officials have issued proclamations honoring its cultural revival efforts.

Congressman Scott Peters described Shen Yun as “a journey of spirit and culture,” highlighting its seamless blend of ancient dynastic stories and values such as “Truthfulness, Compassion, Tolerance.” State Senator Brian Jones called Shen Yun an “American success story,” celebrating its embodiment of “reverence for heaven, faith in the divine, compassion, and loyalty.”

San Diego County Supervisor Joel Anderson praised the company for “reviving and sharing Chinese traditional culture with the world,” emphasizing its status as “a globally recognized American brand presenting a China free of communism.”

Several San Diego mayors also voiced their admiration. Oceanside Mayor Esther Sanchez commended Shen Yun’s endurance “through passion, effort, and dedication,” while Santee Mayor John Minto emphasized its ability to “promote peace, hope, and spiritual-physical upliftment.” Vista Mayor John Franklin and Chula Vista Mayor John McCann each recognized Shen Yun for its role in “spreading hope and reviving a culture destroyed by the CCP.”

Leading humanity back to tradition

Currently touring the Gold Coast, Shen Yun has also received widespread praise from Australian dignitaries. In heartfelt letters, officials celebrated the company’s commitment to guiding humanity back to its cultural roots and wished its performances great success.

Republic of China President Lai Ching-te conveyed his support in a congratulatory telegram, stating: “I sincerely hope this grand event allows us to appreciate the essence of dance aesthetics, enrich artistic and cultural depth, elevate intellectual living standards, and jointly contribute to building a high-quality, progressive modern society. Wishing the event complete success.”

Despite persistent transnational suppression by the CCP, it has risen to become the fastest-growing performing arts company in U.S. history, reaching nearly two million people annually.
