MacKenzie gets unanimous support for family court re-election bid

POUGHKEEPSIE – The Dutchess County Republican Committee has unanimously endorsed Dutchess County Family Court Judge Tracy MacKenzie who is seeking re-election to a second term.

Judge MacKenzie was first elected to the bench in 2015 and has developed a reputation for being caring and compassionate among the attorneys who plead their cases in her courtroom.

“Judge Mackenzie is a patient compassionate and thoughtful judge who takes the time to learn about the cases she presides over and work toward resolutions to help families move forward,” said Poughkeepsie attorney Kelley Enderley.  “She listens to all of the attorneys appearing before her as well as the litigants so that she can understand all of the issues facing individuals, including children, when they appear before her.”

expressed her gratitude for the support from the Republican Committee, stating, “I am honored to receive the unanimous endorsement of the Dutchess County Republican Committee for re-election to Family Court. It has been an honor to preside in Family Court for the last 10 years. I have spent my career protecting children and families. I look forward to engaging with the voters of Dutchess County and earning their support on Election Day.”

Before being elected to serve as Dutchess County Family Court Judge, MacKenzie maintained a successful law practice, focused on Family Court cases, and then served as Principal Court Attorney for Dutchess County Family Court Judge Denise Watson. 

“In her nearly 10 years on the Family Court bench, Judge MacKenzie has earned a reputation throughout the legal community for her fairness, compassion, and decisiveness. Dutchess County deserves to have Judge MacKenzie remain our Family Court Judge,” said Hon. Damian Amodeo, Family Court Judge (Ret.).

Judge MacKenzie, a Poughkeepsie native, resides in a two-dog home in LaGrange with her husband and three children, and serves on the Dutchess County Juvenile Justice Committee, Dutchess County Criminal Justice Council, and the Child Welfare Court Improvement Project. 

The veteran judge has spent her career advocating for the well-being of children and families and also presides over the Integrated Domestic Violence Court, a problem-solving court, that combines domestic violence cases with pending criminal matters to adjudicate both types of cases in one court.  Her campaign, she said, “will focus on continuing that legacy and reinforcing the importance of experienced, compassionate leadership in Family Court.”

MacKenzie is also a crowd favorite when administering oaths of office at various ceremonies throughout Dutchess County.  Most recently she and, in a separate ceremony, administered the oath to the executive officers of the .  In January 2024, MacKenzie .
