CARMEL – Parents of children who will be enrolled as members of the high school classes of 2038 across Putnam County are being encouraged this week to gather documentation needed for the registration process.
Kindergarten registration in the Brewster, Carmel, Garrison, Haldane, Mahopac and Putnam Valley School Districts will be getting underway shortly.
In Brewster, school officials have requested families residing within the district to call the John F. Kennedy Elementary School at 279-2087, ext. 4111 for English or ext. 4144 for Spanish to make an appointment.
In Carmel information is available on the district’s website or by calling the Carmel School District Administrative Office at 878-2094.
In the Garrison District, parents with children who will be five years old on or before December 1, 2024 are asked to call the school at 424-3689.
Residents with children attending the Haldane School in Cold Spring needing information regarding kindergarten registration are asked to contact Sue Hylka at 265-9254 ext. 122 or on line at
In Mahopac registration for incoming kindergarten students for the 2025-26 school year is already underway.
Superintendent Christine Tona said the registration will continue through March 31. Families are asked to use the following line to register:
Putnam Valley residents with children eligible for kindergarten in the fall are asked to call the Putnam Valley Elementary School at 528-8092 or the district registrar at 528-8130, ext. 1318 for more information and to make an appointment.
In each district, families must provide their child’s original birth certificate and immunization records indicating proof of protection against Diphtheria-tetanus-pertussis, polio, hepatitis B, measles, mumps, rubella and Varicella along with a current physical exam.
