Pop icon Taylor Swift has publicly endorsed Kamala Harris for the 2024 Presidential Election. The announcement came just moments after Harris’s intense debate performance against former President Donald Trump.
In an Instagram post late Tuesday night, Swift expressed her support for Harris and running mate Tim Walz, emphasizing her commitment to issues she believes Harris champions. “I will be casting my vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the 2024 Presidential Election,” Swift stated. She praised Harris as a “steady-handed, gifted leader” and highlighted her belief that the country would benefit from leadership grounded in calm rather than chaos.
Swift’s endorsement was accompanied by a photo of her with a cat, a subtle nod to recent political commentary. The pop star signed off her post with the moniker “Childless Cat Lady,” a direct response to remarks made by JD Vance, Trump’s vice-presidential candidate. Vance had previously criticized Harris and other Democrats with the derogatory term in a 2021 interview, calling them “a bunch of childless cat ladies who are miserable at their own lives.”
Swift’s endorsement is expected to sway her extensive fan base and adds a high-profile voice to the ongoing presidential race. The singer’s decision to support Harris comes amid a highly charged election cycle, where celebrity endorsements can significantly impact voter sentiment.
