又到了 唐笛說故事的時間
Welcome to another episode of Tang Di’s story telling time.
今天要跟大家說一個是民間傳說
We are going to tell a common folklore
八大金剛與一個賊的故事
About eight buddha warriors and a thief
內容是這樣的
The story goes like this.
在很久 很久以前
long, long time ago,
如來座前有一個弟子
There was a disciple of the Buddha
他偷懶 怠慢
He was lazy and slow
最重要的是他不尊敬佛法
More importantly, he did not respect the Buddha Fa.
因此啊 As a result,
被這個如來打下人間轉生成一頭牛
For punishment, he reincarnated into a cow in the human realm
來償還他在天上做的這些錯事
In order to pay for all the wrong things he had done in heaven.
於是這個弟子呢
So this disciple
他就轉生到一個 很有錢 很有錢的財主家
He reincarnated to a rich man’s house
當牛 到他們家的田裡啊拉著犁幹活
And plow their land as a cow
要3年的時間喔
For 3 years in this realm.
那麼時間過得很快
Time went by very fast
3年的時間一下子就到了
3 years gone by.
牛啊 要回到天上去囉
The cow was returning back to heaven
於是牛就開口說話了
And thus the cow opened his mouth to speak.
哇 這個財主看到
The rich owner was surprised.
牛怎麼會說話
Cows don’t speak?
嚇得臉色發白
His face turned pale.
那牛就對著財主說
The cow said to the owner,
你不要害怕
Don’t be afraid of me.
我哪 是如來座前的一個弟子
Before this life, I was a disciple of the Buddha
因為我在天上的時候啊
While I heaven,
偷懶 怠慢最重要的是我不尊敬佛法
I disrespected the Buddha Fa and I was lazy.
因此被打下人間轉生成牛
So I was punished and lived as a cow
來到你們家的
Working for your household.
哇 財主聽完之後
after hearing this
更是嚇得不得了
The owner became very scared.
趕緊下跪求這個牛的原諒
He kneeled down, begging for forgiveness.
說 我如果知道你是如來的這個弟子
“if I knew that you were the Buddha’s disciple
我不會讓你在我們家幹活的
I would not have let you worked in my household.”
牛說 你千萬不要這麼說
Cow said, “Don’t be like this.
因為我是做錯事 我要負責任
I am responsible because I did something wrong.
所以啊 你們呢又對我這麼好
Since You guys have been so good to me,
因此我在這裡要離開之前
Before I leave you,
告訴你們一件事情
I need to tell you something important.
那就是 今天晚上會有9個賊啊
Tonight, nine robbers will come by
來到你們家 搶劫你們家
And rob your house.
還會把你們全家人都殺死喔
And kill every single member of this household.”
哇 財主聽了 是真的嗎
The owner hearing this, “Is that true?”
那這個牛啊就說
The cow said,
你只要照著我的方法去做的話呢
“if you follow my directions,
你就能夠逃過這個劫難囉
You will be able to escape this.”
那到了晚上啊
At night
財主真的照著這一頭牛說的
The rich owner did exactly what the cow instructed.
把家裡的燈火 全部都點亮了
And turned all the lights on Inside the house.
就坐在這裡 等著這些賊來
And sat indoor, waiting for the robbers to come.
好了 果真到了半夜
So at midnight
這個9個賊
The nine robbers
就來到了 財主家門前
Came to the rich owners house.
不過啊 他們看 不對啊
But they realized
大半夜的為什麼他們家燈火通明的呢
Who would turn on all their lights in the house in the middle of the night?
於是他們就心虛的說
So they thought to themselves
該不會是他知道我們要來了吧
What if he knew that we were coming?
有一個賊啊 就壯著膽
One of the robbers
走進這個財主家 對著財主說
Walked into the owner’s house and said to him,
耶 這個大半夜了你們家為什麼燈這麼亮啊
“Hey, why are the lights on in your house in the middle of the night?”
財主說 因為我知道你們要來啊
Owner replied, “Because I knew you guys were coming.”
這個賊聽了 就有點害怕說
The robber became scared.
你 你 你 你 你怎麼知道我們要來啦
“You, You, you. How do you know we were coming?”
財主說 因為有 有一頭牛跟我們說的啊
“Because a cow told me that you would come”
然後這個
And then
賊聽了說
The robber said
牛 牛跟你說我們今天會來
“A cow told you that we would come?
我們才不相信了
We don’t believe you.
你 你 你帶我們去看這頭牛
You need to take us to see this cow.”
然後財主就說
the rich cow said
就把他們帶到了牛的前面
he took them in front of the cow.
然後呢這個牛看到這些賊呀 就說
The cow looked at the robbers and said
嗯 你們今天啊 如果搶這家人
“if you guys rob this family today
還把這家人全部殺死的話呢
and kill the whole household,
你們喔
In the future
未來會變成牛 會變成馬
You will become cows and horses
來償還你們今天所做的這些事情
In order to pay for your deeds today.
最後還會被殺死
And eventually you will be killed.”
然後呢這些賊聽了之後
The robbers heard this.
開始因為牛真的說話啦
Because a cow spoke to them
大家你看我 我看你的
They looked at each other
開始全身啊發抖起來了
Shaking with fear.
牛繼續說 不過
The cow continued, “But
如果你們改過自新
If you guys repent and stop
從此不再做壞事
And not do anymore wrong deeds,
那你們的後果就會很不一樣喔
Your futures will be very different.”
那這些賊聽了 就想要繼續
The robbers want to keep listening
看牛要教他們怎麼做
To see if the cow will tell them what to do.
他就說
The robber said
那我 我 我 我們該怎麼做呢
“then what should we do?”
牛說 不然這樣好了
Cow said, “How about this.
你們跟我走吧
You guys follow me.”
那於是這些這些賊啊
So these robbers
就跟牛走到了懸崖邊
Followed the cow to the edge of the cliff.
到了懸崖邊啊
The edge of the cliff.
這個牛啊就對這些賊說
The cow said to the robbers
我要走了
“I am leaving.
那麼你們喔 請自便
You guys can do as you please.
要去哪裡隨便你們囉
Your future depends on your choice.”
說完之後牛就 咚
After the cow finished,
跳下懸崖底下去了
The cow jumped off the cliff.
哇 這些賊看了之後就
Wow, the robbers were surprised.
懸崖耶 哇 好可怕喔 這麼高
“Cliff, it is very scary. It’s so high.”
然後賊就你看我 我看你
They looked at each other.
大家就開始有一個人就說
One of the robbers’ said
不然這樣好了
How about this.
我們是不是也跟牛
Maybe we should follow the cow
一 一起跳下去呢
And jump down the cliff.
然後賊就說
Another robber said,
什麼
“what?
跳 跳 跳下去
Jump, jump?”
然後那個又說
Another person said
對啊 如果如果我們跳下去的話呢
“if i jump off the cliff,
死掉的話
And died
我也是算是還了我們這一世做壞事的罪業嘛
I may have repaid for all the terrible things in this life.
那如果活著呢
But if I didn’t die,
也算是聽佛的話了
At least I have listened to the Buddha.
你們覺得怎麼樣呢
What do you guys think?”
喔 那這些賊就互相的看來看去之後
The robbers looked at each other.
嗯 大家就有了一個選擇
Everyone had a choice
就有了一個共同的一個目標
And they all had a common goal.
好 然後就開始
Thus, it began.
噔 噔 噔 噔 噔
Hop, hop hop.
哇 一個一個往下跳
One after another they jumped
就跳下去了
Off the cliff.
幾個大家知道嗎
How many people jumped
跳下去了幾個
do you know?
對 剛剛節目有說
Yeap, like the title of this episode.
八大金剛對不對
The eight buddha warriors
他跳下去了八個
Eight of the robbers jumped.
還有一個賊
And one last robber
是真的非常膽小
He was very timid.
他嚇得 跳 哦 不行 跳 哦 不行
He was like, “jump, No. Jump. No.”
他就沒有跳了
So he didn’t jump.
要跳下去的這個八個賊就變成了
The eight that jumped
如來座前的八大金剛
Became the eight Buddha warriors
那沒有跳下去的這個人呢
The one that didn’t jump.
他繼續做了他的賊喔
He continued being a robber.
你看啊大家聽故事聽到這裡
So, at the end of our story
是不是覺得選擇 很重要呢
Isn’t it important to make good choices?
如果啊是佛告訴我們該怎麼做
If the Buddha told us what to do
其實不要有任何的懷疑
Don’t hesitate.
我們一定要跟著佛
We must follow the Buddha
做一個 像學佛一樣要做善良的人
Become a kind person like the Buddha
而且要做很有慈悲心的人喔
And be a compassionate person.
好 故事說到這裡呢
So to wrap up this story.

Please tell everyone that we need to
心存善念
Have a compassionate heart.
