Hi Everyone, welcome back to Tang Di’s Story Telling
今天要跟大家說的這個故事呢
The story we are telling today,
是在這個古代有一個地方叫常州
took place in Changzhou in the ancient times.
一個秀才馬士麟
About a scholar called Ma Shilin
他的親身經驗喔
And his personal experience.
那這是有關於的輪迴轉生的故事
This is a story about reincarnation.
故事內容是這樣的
The story goes like this.
馬士麟小的時候
When Shilin Ma was young
跟父親在一個叫北樓的地方讀書
He studied with his father at the North building. (Bei Lo)
他每天早上都會很早起床讀書
He wakes up early every morning to study
打開北樓的一個窗戶
And opens the window at the Bei Lo
可以看到一個賣菊花王老頭他們家的露天花臺
That overlooks the flowery balcony of Mr. Wang who sells chrysanthemums.
有一天
One day
這個馬士麟啊
Ma Shilin
打開窗戶
Opened the window
看見這個王老頭
And saw Mr. Wang
在花臺澆花的時候
Watering his flowers on his balcony.
澆完準備要離開
As he was leaving,
就看到有一個挑著兩隻桶
A man with two buckets
挑糞人啦
Full of manure
來到了這個王老頭花臺前
Stopped by Mr. Wang’s balcony
要幫王老頭澆花
to water his flower pots.
那王老頭看到了
Mr Wang saw the man
是非常的不歡迎他
And didn’t welcome the man.
不讓這個挑糞人到他們家的花臺
He didn’t want him to water his flowers.
那於是呢他們兩個就這樣
So they both began
你推我擠 你推我擠
to push and shove each other.
不巧天空下起雨來了
Rain began to fall from the sky.
那一下雨呢
As it rained
花臺就會變得非常的濕滑
The balcony became slippery
再加上花臺又高又陡
It was high and very steep
於是在推擠的過程當中
During the pushing and shoving
王老頭一把推向挑糞人的時候
Mr. Wang pushed the man with the manure
挑糞人一個重心不穩
He became unbalanced
咕嚕 咕嚕 咕嚕 咕嚕
Thud and thud
掉下去 摔死了
He fell down and died.
那這個王老頭看到時候有點害怕
Mr Wang be.came afraid.
想說怎麼辦呢
What should he do.?
四下無人
Nobody was around.
然後呢他就拉著個挑糞人的兩隻腳
He dragged the man’s feet
從他們家的後門一路拉到河流邊
And left him by the riverbank.
然後呢 回到家關上門窗
And then, He went home, closed the windows,
躺在床上睡著了
And went back to bed.
馬士麟 雖然是小
Ma Shilin, even though he was young
不過他覺得
But he thought,
這是人命關天的事情不可以到處去說
A matter of life and death cannot become public.
於是呢
so
事情也就這樣子 過去了
The event just passed Just like that
那時間過得很快喔
Time went by really fast.
九年之後
Nine years later,
這個很不幸的
Unfortunately,
馬士麟的父親本來是要到城裡去考試
Ma’s Father was going to take the exam in the city
但是馬士麟的父親就生病死掉了
But he died from an illness.
之後
Later
馬士麟繼續留在這個北樓
He stayed in the Bei Low
收學生教書這樣子
Teaching other students.
那他的習慣依然沒有變
He habits didn’t change.
有一天他打開了這個北樓的窗戶
One day when he owned the window in the Bei Lo.
他就看見
He saw
耶 前面有一條巷子
In an alley out front
怎麼感覺有一個
Why is there a guy
挑著兩隻桶的人啦
With two buckets on his shoulder pole.
他仔細一瞧 嘿
He took a closer look. Hey,
這不是當年死掉的那個挑糞人嗎
Isn’t that the man with the manure that died?
啊 他難道是來找王老頭報仇的嗎
Is he seeking revenge from Mr. Wang?
然後呢他就看著挑糞人啊
He saw the man
經過了王老頭的家
Pass by Mr. Wang’s house
耶 沒有進去耶
but he didn’t go inside.
奇怪他他要去哪裡呢
Where is he going?
他就順著另外一個方向
He walked in another direction
走進了一個非常有錢的人家
And walked into a rich man’s house.
姓李的人家進去了
The owner was named Li
這時候馬士麟非常的好奇
Ma Shilin was very curious.
於是他就跟著這挑糞人
So he followed the man with manure
來到了李家的門口 敲門
into the Li’s household. he knocked.
那好裡面剛好 跑出來一個僕人臉色慌張
Suddenly a servant ran out and in a panic
然後馬士麟問說
Ma asked the servant,
請問你有沒有看到一個
“Have you seen
挑著兩隻桶的人進到你們家呢
The man with the two buckets walk into your house?”
這老僕人說 沒有啊
The old servant said, “No”
不過我現在很急
But I am in a rush
因為我們家的夫人喔
Because the lady of this house
已經快要生了
is about to go into labor.
那正在講的時候
While talking
裡面出來了一個丫頭就說
Another servant came out
你不用去找那個接生婆了
“you guys don’t need to find the midwife
因為我們家的夫人已經生了
because the baby is already here.”
那生了一個兒子喔
The Li’s had a son.
聽到這馬士麟 突然間
Hearing this, Ma Suddenly
好像明白了什麼
Realized something.
原來這個挑糞人
The man with the buckets
來到了這個李家投胎轉生
has reincarnated to the Li’s household
轉世成為他們家的兒子
And become their son in this life.
這時候就引發了馬士麟好奇
Ma was very curious.
他想到底這個故事情節會怎麼發展下去
He thought,How will the story develop.
然後時間過很快 過了7年
Time went by fast After 7 years,
李家的兒子漸漸的長大了
The child of Li’s grew up.
他不喜歡讀書
He didn’t like to study
但是他非常喜歡養鳥
but he liked to raise pet birds.
然後呢
And then,
王老頭依然每天會到他家的花臺
Mr. Wang still watered his plants
去澆花
Out on his balcony.
這個時候王老頭
At this moment
也已經80多歲了
Mr. Wang was already 80 years old.
有一天啦 馬士麟打開北樓的窗戶
One day, Ma Shilin opened the window of the Bei Lo
看見王老頭正在澆花
And saw Mr. Wang watering his plants.
那李家的兒子上了他們家的陽臺
The son of Li went onto their balcony
那個把這個鳥籠打開
And opened the bird cage
讓這個鳥出來運動 運動
So the birds can get some exercise.
結果這些鳥 不約而同的都飛到了
The birds all flew to
王老頭他們家這個
the rails of Mr. Wang’s
露天花臺的欄桿上就停著了
Balcony. They landed there.
無論這李家兒子怎麼呼喊
No matter what the child called out
鴿子就是鳥兒就是不理他
The birds refused to acknowledge him.
然後沒辦法
So as a result
你家的兒子只好隨手
He casually
撿起一顆小石頭
picked up a rock
往這個鳥的方向扔過去
Threw it in the Bird’s direction.
結果一不小心扔到了 誰
But, it landed
扔到了王老頭
on Mr. Wang.
王老頭被這突如其來的石頭砸到嚇了一跳
Mr. Wang was scared by the rock
重心不穩
He lost his balance
咕嚕 咕嚕 咕嚕 咕嚕
Thud and thud
也這樣子摔了下去
And he fell down.
年紀這麼大
At his senior age
怎麼禁得起摔
He couldn’t survive the fall.
結果這一摔啊 就摔死
And he died from the fall.
那李家兒子看到王老頭摔下去
The son saw Mr. Wang fall
很慌張的趕緊
And he panicked
從陽臺回到家裡
ran from the balcony back to the house.
那這個馬士麟看到整個的經過
Ma Shilin saw the entire process
就覺得他 哇 他心有戚戚焉
He resonated with this.
那這個王老頭的兒子跟孫子發現
Mr Wang’s son and grandson
來找這個王老頭
Came to find Mr. Wang.
也發現王老頭已經死掉了
But they found that he had already died
很傷心
They were sad.
但是也應該要把他 後事給辦好了
But they still needed to bury him properly.
這個時候馬士麟窗戶關起來就他就心裡想
Ma Shilin closed he window and thought to himself
哇 從之前到現在
“Since many years ago Until today
原來這個上天的安排
This has been fate.
這個因果報應是這麼的
What goes around comes around
公平也這麼的巧合
It is so just and so coincidental.
做壞事絕對跑不掉
You cannot run from karma
就像我們經常會說的啊
Like we always say,
善惡有報 不是不報 是時機未到
What goes around, comes around. It’s all timing
對不對
Right?
你看了就這麼的一個巧合
You see this coincidence displayed here.
因此這個故事其實
So this story
很明確的在告訴我們
Is telling us that
人都會做錯事
People will always make mistakes
但是我們做錯事
But when we do
一定要有責任去承擔
We should be responsible for them
要有勇氣去面對它
And have the courage to face them.
這樣我們才能夠在錯中學習
So we can learn from our mistakes.
讓我們能做一個更好的人
And so we can be a better person
重要的是我們一定要告訴自己
We have to tell ourselves to
心存善念Have a compassionate heart
