How did a princess change a long-standing royal tradition? Until 1982, royal mothers with newborns were hidden away in the palace chambers and were spared posing for photographers until the baby was at least a few weeks old. Everything changed Diana, who appeared on 22 June 1982 on the porch of St. Mary's Hospital with little Prince William in her arms.
