Judge Refuses to Dismiss Hunter Biden’s Gun Case

WASHINGTON (NEWSnet/AP) — A federal judge in Delaware on Friday refused to dismiss a federal gun case against Hunter Biden.

U.S. District Judge Maryellen Noreika rejected Biden’s claim that he is being prosecuted for political purposes.

Biden’s lawyers asserted that an immunity provision from an initial plea deal still holds. They also had challenged the appointment of U.S. Attorney David Weiss as special counsel to lead the prosecution.

Noreika as not ruled on a challenge to the constitutionality of the gun charges.

Biden has pleaded not guilty.

A yearslong investigation was nearing a conclusion in 2023, but the agreement imploded after a judge raised questions about it. Biden subsequently was indicted.
