Also hat Gott die Welt geliebt (BWV 68) is a church cantata by Johann Sebastian Bach. 

Like most of the libretti by the Leipzig poet Mariana von Ziegler set to music by Bach, the choral cantata composed for the 2nd day of Pentecost in 1725 is particularly colourfully orchestrated. In this variety of sound and the swinging and dance-like style of several movements, the diversity of Pentecostal tongues can be heard alongside the joy befitting the feast. The elegiac siciliano of the opening chorus, which speaks of Christ's sacrifice, as well as the harsh world of judgement in the final movement, which separates the faithful from the rejected, are coloured by the archaic, priestly aura of the cornetts and trombones.

Whoever surrenders to him in faith,

But my God has patience with me
And will save me a sinner.
Will not destroy my soul,

I will not fear the worst death,
God wants to refresh me everywhere.
The greatest suffering cannot separate me

Are against me with their lamentations,
Each calls God to vengeance
And are minded to afflict me.
But none can harmfully kill me,

Before which I cannot prevail,
Because my conscience itself speaks:
I shall go to the damned.

God will be my heaven
And not deny me my place.
To stay with him for eternity,
