This place is a center piece of Roman Imperial Government and major public plaza used for centuries until the year of 480, when with the fall of Western Roman Empire the whole area has been neglected and abandoned for centuries. Today, it's a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and Colosseum is one of the 7 New Wonders of the World.

To visit this place you have to purchase tickets, so please make sure that you do your research and purchase them ahead of your visit to avoid long lines.
