🎥 Although this movie is also called “The Kingdom of Women”, it has very little to do with the original Journey to the West story of the Kingdom of Women. Instead, it’s more of a parallel universe tale. That said, the subplot portrayed in the MV still left a deep impression on me. 💭✨ I was truly amazed by Lin Chi-ling’s performance as the River God.
🌸🎬 Initially, I created this MV as a backdrop for my cover of Jane Zhang and Li Ronghao’s “The Kingdom of Women”. However, to be honest, I’m not particularly fond of the song, so I decided not to use my cover version for this video.
🙏 The reason I chose this song was more about appreciating production team’s sincere effort to interpret and explore from their own perspective how human emotions can give rise to compassion—experiencing suffering in the mortal world and thereby understanding the pain of other beings. From this perspective, every hardship we endure ultimately becomes the true wealth of life.
🚩 To truly fulfill one’s mission, there is always a price to pay. The Kingdom of Women represents the most perilous yet pivotal step in Tripitaka’s journey of cultivation. According to the values depicted in the film, this is the moment he transcends emotional attachments and begins his true path of spiritual cultivation. For those who appreciate cultivation culture, it’s easy to understand what this signifies for his journey.
