This Amazon rainforest is home to the world's greatest biodiversity and covers 60 percent of Brazil's territory. It's hard to find a place where nature hasn't interfered with this modern world. This makes the #amazon rainforest the most valuable habitat the earth has to offer. It is so large that it exceeds three of the nine South American countries. More than half of all known animal and plant species can be found in this forest, with even more unknown species. Scientists have discovered some of the secrets of this immense forest over time. Every time there is a new discovery about this beautiful forest. So let's take a look at some of those terrifying and interesting #discoveries  by #scientists.

🕐 24-Hour Ant (Bullet Ant) 01:18
24-hours ant is a species of ant, commonly known as the bullet ant (or also Paraponera clavata), named for its extremely painful sting. It lives in moist lowland rainforests in the Amazon rainforest.
The bites of these ants are the most painful an insect can make. It seems that each feels like a gunshot (hence the apt name probably). The ants are sedated, but certainly still excitable. The venom of the bullet ant can be deadly after 10 stings. The bullet ant attacks aggressively as soon as it feels threatened. His sting is known as one of the most painful things you can experience in nature. In addition, it hunts insects, which it eats, and has huge jaws.

Victoria boliviana is the world's biggest known water lily species. The largest water lily has impressive circular floating leaves that attain 2 metres (6.5 feet) in diameter and flowers 40 cm (about 15 inches) across. In addition to their great size, these giant water lilies are remarkable for the flowers they produce, which last for just 48 hours and only emerge at night. When they first emerge the flowers are white, and on their second night of life they take on a purple-red hue. All water lilies are poisonous and contain an alkaloid called nupharine in almost all of their parts, with the exception of the seeds and in some species the tubers. Every part of the Amazon lily is highly poisonous. This includes the flowers, leaves, stems, bulbs and roots. Both humans and pets will suffer if they ingest any part of the plant.
