The #amazon #rainforest is as beautiful from the outside as it is scary from the inside. Covering over two million square miles in South America, the world's biggest tropical rainforest hides many scary secrets, and some beautiful ones too. This forest is so big, the mystery inside it will be equally big. Yes, this forest holds so many secrets that even scientists are breaking their heads trying to get to know them. Due to the immense size of the forest, there are still many areas of it that have not been investigated, as well as numerous mysteries that have not been discovered. 

🕐 81 Ancient Settlements
In the 2010s, archaeologists began to make widespread use of a method known as LIDAR, a form of remote sensing technology that creates a three-dimensional image of the ground below by using lasers in a scanning motion. Over the years, several discoveries have been made by scientists using the LIDAR. They found that about 1,500 years ago, the ancient Amazonians built and lived in densely populated centers with 22-meter-high earthen pyramids and surrounded by miles of causeways. The complexity of these villages is enough to make your head spin.
Archaeologists have determined that the uncovered settlements were built between 1250 and 1500.

🕑 The Boiling River
Although the Amazon River is the longest in the world, there is another river that runs through the Amazon rainforest that not many people are aware of. One of them is known as 'The Boiling River'. It is boiling and on certain occasions the temperature at its highest point can reach 93 degrees Celsius. It is interesting to note that experts have not been able to pinpoint the source of such high temperatures.

🕒 Secret River
The Amazon Basin is one of the largest and most unique river systems in the world, spanning more than 7 million square kilometers in South America. This makes it one of the most unique river systems in the world. Brazilian researchers discovered an underground river in the Amazon basin that runs about 2.5 miles (4 kilometers) below the Amazon River. It appears that the Rio Hamza is as long as the Amazon River, yet is tens to hundreds of times wider.

🕓 Wlaking Palm 
The "walking palm" is one of the more peculiar plant species that some scientists believe the forests of the Amazon Basin are home to. These scientists estimate that the forests of the Amazon Basin may be home to more than 80,000 different plant species.

🕔 Giant Snakes 
Native to the swamps and streams of the Amazon, the green anaconda holds the record as the giant snake worldwide. An anaconda can reach a length of up to 29 feet and weigh up to 550 pounds. The anaconda spends most of its time in the water. Because its eyes and nostrils are placed on top of its head, it can keep an eye on prey even when it is almost completely submerged. They will capture prey such as wild boars, birds, and even jaguars, crush them until they choke, and then eat them whole. After a major murder, anacondas can go without food for months.

🕕Silkhenge 
The strange animals that live in the Amazon aren't necessarily huge. For the past decade, researchers in Tambopata, Peru, have been trying to determine what kind of organism is responsible for producing minimal silk structures. Each consists of a cone in the center surrounded by a ring of pillars formed into a fence by horizontal wires. After collecting and examining many specimens, the researchers were finally able to observe spiders emerging from the structure in the center.
