Callenberg Castle or Schloss Callenberg, Beiersdorf, Coburg, Upper Franconia, Bavaria, Germany

Callenberg Castle was first mentioned in 1122 as Chalwinberch, a hill castle.
It was the main seat for the Ritter von Callenberg until 1231, when the lord sold it to the Prince-Bishop of Würzburg.
In the second half of the 16th century, it became the property of Duke Johann Casimir of Saxe-Coburg and started to be used as the summer residence of the Dukes of Coburg.
Major construction work was carried out in 1827 but today's Gothic revival elements date back to a renovation after 1857.
Due to its history and Gothic revival architecture it is a listed monument.
It is currently owned by Prince Andreas of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha, Duke of Saxony, who created the Ducal Saxe-Coburg and Gotha House Order.
