Zendaya Makes a Daring Return to Met Gala 2024 with Maison Margiela Ensemble

Euphoria star Zendaya made a striking comeback to the 2024 Met Gala at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City on Monday, marking her return after a five-year hiatus.

As one of the co-chairs of the event alongside Jennifer Lopez, Bad Bunny, and Chris Hemsworth, Zendaya turned heads in a metallic peacock-colored Maison Margiela gown designed by John Galliano, igniting a mix of admiration and debate among fashion enthusiasts.

Her ensemble, a blue and green bias-cut dress featuring a mermaid tail and grape embellishments, perfectly aligned with the garden-themed event. Zendaya accessorized with a fascinator adorned with a long black feather and custom-made Tabi pumps by Christian Louboutin for Margiela, adding a touch of drama to her look.

The actress opted for bold makeup, sporting bright pink eyeshadow and black lipstick, complementing her edgy ensemble. Styled by her longtime collaborator Law Roach, Zendaya’s attire was specially crafted by John Galliano, featuring intricate details such as hand-painted metallic crin, draped aluminum material, and iridescent organza.

While Zendaya’s avant-garde look garnered praise from many fans, some expressed mixed opinions. Despite the divided reactions, the actress effortlessly commanded attention and made a memorable statement on the red carpet.

The Costume Institute’s spring exhibition, held annually on the first Monday in May at The Met, featured a showcase titled “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion” this year, with a dress code inspired by “The Garden of Time.” The event, attended by a diverse array of celebrities and fashion icons, underscored the intersection of art, technology, and nature in the world of fashion.
