Special Effects Makeup Artist Allie Shehorn Recovering After Vicious Attack

Allie Shehorn, a special effects makeup artist known for her work on 2022’s Babylon and 2024’s Mean Girls, is on a long road to recovery following a brutal attack. The 35-year-old was stabbed over 20 times in her Los Angeles home on May 23, as reported by her friends.

“This is not the kind of thing that should happen to anybody,” said Christine White, who considers herself Shehorn’s surrogate mother, in an interview with KTLA. “You don’t think this is ever going to happen to you.”

White, who was staying with Shehorn at the time, recounted the horrifying incident that left Shehorn with severe injuries to her arms, neck, and abdomen. “I found her and I had to go into the bedroom where it happened,” White said. “That wasn’t a pretty sight.”

E! News reached out to the Los Angeles Police Department for comments but has not yet received a response. However, law enforcement confirmed to the Los Angeles Times that a stabbing occurred in the Shadow Hills neighborhood around 4:30 a.m. on May 23, with the alleged assailant fleeing the scene before police arrived.

In response to the attack, friends of Shehorn launched a GoFundMe campaign to cover her medical expenses. According to the campaign organizers, Emily MacDonald and Jed Dornoff, L.A. authorities informed them that the alleged attacker was apprehended in Texas while attempting to flee the country.

“I come to you today with a heavy heart and a plea for help for someone very dear to me, my friend Allie,” MacDonald and Dornoff wrote in the fundraiser description. “Recently, she faced a horrific and senseless act of violence.”

They continued, “As a result, Allie is now in the hospital fighting for her life.”

Since the attack, Shehorn has undergone three surgeries, with the most recent one on May 25 to address stab wounds on the left side of her body. Her friends noted that she has been moved out of the intensive care unit, but emphasized that her recovery journey remains long and challenging.

“She is still determined not to let this beat her,” Shehorn’s friends shared, “and is pushing through the pain to heal.”

Shehorn’s resilience and determination to recover despite the severe trauma have been a source of inspiration to those around her, and her friends are hopeful for her continued progress on the road to recovery.
