by Murat Karul

In a thrilling Thursday night matchup, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander showcased his skills by scoring an impressive 33 points, leading the Oklahoma City Thunder to a resounding 133-110 victory over LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers.

Gilgeous-Alexander’s stellar performance included making 11 of 18 field goals and a perfect 10 of 10 from the free-throw line. Jalen Williams contributed 21 points, and Chet Holmgren added 18, securing the win for the Thunder, who had previously faced close losses against Philadelphia and Minnesota.

Thunder coach Mark Daigneault emphasized the team’s energy and hard work, praising their defensive efforts, speed, and overall performance. The Thunder shot an impressive 53.2% from the field and committed only nine turnovers, improving their record to 12-6.

Despite a commendable effort from Anthony Davis, who recorded 31 points and 14 rebounds, and LeBron James, who contributed 21 points, 12 rebounds, and six assists, the Lakers fell short. James, a game-time decision due to a left calf contusion, highlighted the challenging circumstances for the injury-plagued Lakers.

Oklahoma City dominated the second quarter, outscoring the Lakers 42-23 and taking a 72-60 lead at halftime. The Thunder extended their lead in the third quarter, entering the final period with a comfortable 108-88 advantage.

Injuries have plagued the Lakers, with key players sidelined, making it challenging for them to find consistency. Coach Darvin Ham acknowledged the tough road trip and praised his team’s effort despite the obstacles.

Looking ahead, the Lakers will host Houston on Saturday, while the Thunder will face Dallas in their upcoming matchup. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander expressed his satisfaction with his teammates and emphasized the importance of teamwork and winning in the post-game interview.
