In a thrilling Wednesday night matchup, Evan Rodrigues showcased his prowess, delivering a career-best performance with four points as the Florida Panthers triumphed over the Dallas Stars 5-4. Aleksander Barkov’s decisive goal, a result of a rebound, broke the tie in the third period.
Rodrigues’s stellar two-goal, two-assist performance, coupled with contributions from Sam Reinhart and Carter Verhaeghe, powered the Panthers to victory. Coach Paul Maurice praised Rodrigues not just for his scoring but also for his physicality and defensive efforts.
Despite a valiant effort by the Stars, with goals from Mason Marchment and Evgenii Dadonov, the Panthers’ resilience secured the win. Barkov’s crucial goal and Rodrigues’s second of the night sealed the deal, ending the Panthers’ three-game home losing streak.
Reflecting on the game, Rodrigues acknowledged the intensity, stating, “We knew it was going to be a playoff-type game.” The victory extended the Panthers’ remarkable record to 97-0-4 in their last 101 games when scoring at least five goals.
Looking ahead, the Panthers face the Pittsburgh Penguins on Friday, with a special pregame ceremony honoring Patric Hornqvist, the Panthers’ scouting and development consultant, who enjoyed a decorated career, winning two Stanley Cups with Pittsburgh.
For the Stars, the focus shifts to a Thursday night clash against the Washington Capitals. The Panthers, having showcased their resilience and offensive prowess, aim to continue their winning momentum against Pittsburgh in the upcoming matchup.
