2023 marked a year of significant records at the United States-Mexico border under President Joe Biden’s leadership. Here are five key areas where historic highs were observed:

1. 5,000 Illegal Aliens Released Daily: The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has been releasing about 5,000 illegal aliens every day into American communities, amounting to roughly 150,000 per month.

 

2. 670,000 ‘Known Got-Aways’: According to estimates by the House Homeland Security Committee, about 670,000 illegal aliens, known as ‘known got-aways,’ successfully crossed the border in fiscal year 2023. This figure exceeds the population of cities like Boston. Concerns regarding these numbers were expressed by Rep. Mark Green (R-TN), chairman of the committee, in a statement.
3. Nearly 2.5 Million ‘Encounters’ at Southern Border: Border Patrol encountered nearly 2.5 million illegal aliens at the southern border in fiscal year 2023. Including nationwide encounters, the total surpasses 3.2 million.
4. Over 35,000 Illegal Alien Convicts Attempt Entry: More than 35,000 illegal aliens with criminal convictions were arrested by CBP agents as they attempted to enter the U.S. in 2023. Notably, nearly 600 of these individuals were identified as known gang members, including from MS-13.
5. 169 Illegal Aliens on ‘Terrorist Watch List’ Captured: A significant increase was noted in the number of illegal aliens listed on the federal government’s “Terrorist Watch List” apprehended at the border. In fiscal year 2023, 169 such individuals were captured, marking a 2,500 percent increase from Fiscal Years 2017-2020.
