National Archives Will Give Comer Access To Over 1,700 Emails From Joe Biden’s Vice Presidency
The National Archives and Records Administration will provide House Oversight Committee access to more than 1,700 emails from Joe Biden’s time as vice president.

The National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) has announced that it will grant House Oversight Committee lawmakers access to over 1,700 emails from President Joe Biden’s tenure as Vice President. This decision will allow for the examination of 1,799 emails and attachments, totaling 62,610 pages of records, specifically related to Hunter Biden’s business activities with Burisma Holdings, a Ukrainian energy firm. The letter from NARA to Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer confirmed this action.

READ THE LETTER:

In August, Comer wrote to NARA demanding “unrestricted special access” to then-Vice President Biden’s email communications, particularly those involving Hunter Biden and his business connections with Burisma and Ukraine. He sought records from what is designated as “Case Number 2023-0022-F,” which appears to contain relevant materials.

Following up in September, Comer sent another letter to NARA, requesting communications between then-VP Biden’s staff and Hunter Biden’s former business associates. This request was based on archived emails that indicated potential collaboration on media responses about Burisma.

While the Biden administration previously provided limited access to some records, NARA revealed in October the existence of up to 82,000 potential records associated with Biden’s email pseudonyms.

NARA’s latest communication confirms the committee’s access to communications using Biden’s pseudonyms and any interactions with Hunter Biden, Eric Schwerin, and Devon Archer. Notably, Archer, a former Burisma board member, testified before the Oversight Committee in July.

Bank records released by the Oversight Committee show that Hunter Biden received payments of up to $83,333.333 per month from Burisma. His salary was significantly reduced after Joe Biden left office, as indicated in Hunter Biden’s recent indictment.

Comer, in response to these developments, stated, “The White House is trying to make an appearance of cooperation after IRS whistleblowers revealed Joe Biden used an alias to email directly with Hunter Biden’s business associate. President Biden lied again when confronted with information about his interactions with his family’s business associates. The White House must comply with all of our requests for records from Joe Biden’s time as Vice President and all other Committee requests related to the impeachment inquiry. Anything less is obstruction.”

IRS whistleblowers Gary Shapley and Joseph Ziegler testified before the House Ways and Means Committee, following up on their allegations of the Department of Justice officials giving Hunter Biden special treatment during his criminal probe.

Documents released by the Ways and Means Committee include email metadata indicating Joe Biden’s private communications with Schwerin using his “Robin Ware” alias. This correspondence occurred around a June 2014 trip Biden made to Ukraine on behalf of the Obama administration.

White House spokesman Ian Sams distributed a memo on Dec. 1 countering claims of the Biden administration obstructing the impeachment inquiry into President Biden, citing testimony from DOJ, FBI, and IRS officials, as well as financial records in possession of House Republicans.

The House Oversight, Ways and Means, and Judiciary Committees are leading the impeachment inquiry over Joe Biden’s involvement in Hunter Biden’s foreign business dealings and the IRS whistleblower allegations.

House lawmakers are considering a vote to formally authorize the inquiry, enhancing its legal authority.
