LUNENBURG — Join guitarist Abe Ovadia, a renowned jazz musician, on a musical journey through the American songbook like you’ve never experienced before at 6 p.m. Friday, May 24, at the Lunenburg Public Library, 1023 Massachusetts Ave.

With his modern take on jazz standards, Ovadia will captivate audiences of all ages and backgrounds, bringing new life to classic tunes that have stood the test of time.

In this exciting program, Ovadia not only performs jazz standards but also delves into the process of improvisation, sharing insights on the creative and spontaneous nature of jazz music. He will also explore the rich history of jazz and its evolution over time, shedding light on the genre’s cultural significance and impact.

Ovadia holds a bachelor’s degree from Berklee College of Music and a master’s degree from New York University’s prestigious jazz performance program.

His dedication to honing his craft and pursuing excellence in his musical pursuits has earned him numerous accolades, including the prestigious title of Best Guitarist of 2016, as awarded by Hot House Jazz Magazine.

This concert is sponsored in part by funding for The Lunenburg Public Library Monthly Music Series, supported by North End Subaru.

“The Monthly Music Series, supported by North End Subaru, has been a tremendous success here at the Lunenburg Public Library,” said Lydia Gravell, assistant director. “We are very excited to host Abe Ovadia as our next performer, and to have his jazz guitar serenade us for this month’s concert.”

Gravell says that recent concerts have had record attendance numbers for library events, sometimes totaling over 60 people in the community room.

“We look forward to growing these concerts even further with outdoor performances this summer and the potential for atrium performances in the library’s main hall this autumn and winter,” Gravell said. “All are welcome to attend our concerts, and programs in general, and we hope you enjoy the breadth of performers in our beautiful library!”

Registration for this event is encouraged to help with room set up, but not required.
