Microsoft, Other Companies Develop Tools to Help Small Businesses Capitalize on A.I.

NEW YORK (NEWSnet/AP) — An influx of generative artificial intelligence software is transforming small businesses.

Owners are using A.I. tools such as OpenAI's ChatGPT, Google Bard and others to check grammar in email, improve marketing copy and design business plans.

Larger companies are developing tools specifically to help small businesses integrate A.I. into their operations in more advanced ways.

Microsoft's Copilot allows users to ask software to perform tasks like summarizing a Teams meeting, identifying key themes in a document or draft email in a conversational tone in Outlook.

The service, which costs $30 per month per employee, was expanded from companies with at least 300 employees to all companies. So smaller businesses can use Copilot for Microsoft 365.

MasterCard is piloting a product called MasterCard Small Business A.I., aimed to help small-business owners analyze data and offer other resources to help expand their organization. It uses information from MasterCard's content library and information licensed from media companies focused on inclusivity. It involves digital media company Blavity Media Group and Spanish-language media company TelevisaUnivision.
