Madison Keys clinches the Strasbourg title with a victory over Danielle Collins

Fourth-seeded Madison Keys showcased her dominance by delivering 22 winners en route to a convincing 6-1, 6-2 victory over third-seeded Danielle Collins in the Internationaux de Strasbourg championship, an All-American final held in France.

Keys asserted control from the beginning, securing her eighth career title. She demonstrated her prowess by winning 67.9 percent of her first-serve points during the 72-minute encounter, compared to Collins’ 48.7 percent.

Despite the loss, it marked just the third defeat in the past 25 matches for Collins, who previously clinched titles at Miami and Charleston this season. Nevertheless, Collins is set to enter the top 10 in the updated WTA rankings on Monday.

Reflecting on her win, Keys expressed, “I feel amazing. I went into today knowing that I was going to have to play some really good tennis in order to beat Danielle. She’s been playing absolutely incredible the last couple of months, and she’s always a really tough opponent.”

The victory extended Keys’ head-to-head record against Collins to 2-1.

In another tournament, the Grand Prix SAR La Princesse Lalla Meryem, American Peyton Stearns claimed her maiden career title with a commanding 6-2, 6-1 triumph over Egypt’s Mayar Sherif in Rabat, Morocco.

Stearns showcased her resilience by saving all four of Sherif’s break-point opportunities and efficiently converting all four of her own in the 72-minute match.

Sherif, seeking her second career title, struggled to maintain consistency, winning just 51.6 percent of her first-serve points.
