London’s Iconic Pub, The Black Dog, Hits “Max Capacity” Following Taylor Swift’s ‘Tortured Poets Department’ Song

Taylor Swift’s influence knows no bounds, as evidenced by the latest hotspot to feel her impact: The Black Dog pub in London.

In Swift’s recent Grammy-winning album, ‘The Tortured Poets Department,’ she pays homage to the local London pub with one of her songs. Since the album dropped on April 19, fans from around the globe, affectionately dubbed Swifties, have been flocking to The Black Dog.

“It’s been surreal,” remarks Amy Cowley, The Black Dog’s marketing manager, reflecting on the overwhelming response. “We’re fortunate to be a well-established and beloved local pub, but to garner this kind of worldwide attention is mind-blowing.”

Cowley describes the influx of visitors to the now-famous establishment in south London: “We’ve seen people from all corners – the States, Spain, Germany, Australia. The reach has been remarkable.”

However, such popularity comes at a cost, as Cowley notes the pub has had to turn away eager patrons daily over the past week due to hitting “max capacity.” “It speaks volumes about the demand,” she adds. “But what’s heartwarming is how supportive the fans have been. We’ve witnessed them willingly share tables with strangers just to ensure everyone gets a chance to step inside, which is truly remarkable.”

Meanwhile, ‘The Tortured Poets Department’ continues to shatter records since its release. It swiftly became Spotify’s most-streamed album in a single day, catapulting Swift to the title of the platform’s most-streamed artist in a day.

Further accolades followed, with the album marking a historic milestone as the first to amass over 300 million streams in a single day. Notably, the opening track, “Fortnight” featuring Post Malone, claimed the title of Spotify’s most-streamed song in a day. Adding to the accolades, Spotify recently announced the album’s achievement as the most-streamed album in a single week, hitting the one billion streams mark in just five days.

The phenomenon surrounding Swift’s music not only delights fans but also leaves an indelible mark on the places she references, ensuring that The Black Dog will forever hold a special place in Swifties’ hearts around the world.
