Kyle Cooke and Amanda Batula, stars of Summer House, recently dispelled divorce rumors, showcasing the strength of their marriage during the Bravo series’ June 13 season eight reunion episode.
“I love him, unfortunately, so very much,” Amanda confessed while reflecting on their frequent disagreements during the latest season. “And this guy is my best friend. When I’m sad, I want to be with him. When I’m happy, he’s the first one I want to tell things.”
Amanda also revealed an underlying reason for their disconnect last summer. “In Kyle’s defense though, that past year, I think I was on the road to becoming very depressed,” the 32-year-old admitted. “I was checked out. I wasn’t really talking to my friends. So, when he’d come home, yeah I was quiet.”
Amanda’s quiet struggle with depression is not new, as she explained to host Andy Cohen. “It runs in my family. It’s not something that’s out of the blue. So, I was struggling more than I realized and it really hit me later. I could see how he felt lonely because I felt lonely too.”
Fortunately, Amanda’s mental health has improved significantly. “Antidepressants are amazing,” she added. “Everyone, if you’re sad, drugs are great.”
The couple, who tied the knot in September 2021 after six years of dating, also shared what they love most about each other. Amanda highlighted the qualities she cherishes in Kyle, despite them sometimes being challenging.
“I love the same thing that drives me absolutely nuts about him. I love how social he is, I love how friendly he is, I love how outgoing he is.”
Kyle, in turn, expressed why Amanda is his perfect match. “Honestly, when I met her, there was a nine-year age difference—I could not believe how mature and emotionally intelligent she was,” the 41-year-old said. “She’s also just the most genuine, down-to-earth person I’ve ever met. There’s not a bad bone in her body. She really does make me a better person.”
Their heartfelt exchanges drew warm reactions from their Summer House castmates, including newcomer Jesse Solomon. “Can I just say that,” Jesse chimed in, “as a newcomer, it’s so obvious that you guys are each other’s person.”
Kyle and Amanda’s candid revelations and mutual support highlight the deep bond they share, reinforcing that their love goes far beyond mere summer romance.
