Like many fans of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce, Jason Sudeikis is eager to see what happens next in their love story. At the Big Slick Celebrity Weekend charity event in Kansas City, Mo., on June 1, the Ted Lasso star took the opportunity to playfully press the NFL player about his relationship with the pop superstar.
During a comedy sketch, Sudeikis, sharing the stage with Kelce, asked, “Hey Travis, real talk, OK, just the guys here. When are you going to make an honest woman out of her?” The crowd erupted in cheers as Kelce smiled and pondered the question.
In character alongside his real-life uncle George Wendt of Cheers fame and Robert Smigel, Sudeikis joked, “Look, Taylor doesn’t need to be working anymore.” He also made a reference to Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker’s recent controversial commencement speech, adding, “I know your kicker agrees with me.” Butker’s speech at Benedictine College suggested that most female graduates would be “most excited” about marriage and motherhood.
Kelce chuckled and responded calmly, “Guys, you’re really pushing it,” as the trio continued to jest about various topics, including women’s voting rights.
Swift did not attend the charity event, which also featured Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and raised funds for Children’s Mercy hospital in Kansas City. On June 2, she was scheduled to perform in Décines, France, as part of her Eras tour.
Kelce has shown support for Swift by attending several of her concerts since they began dating last summer, most recently on May 12 in Paris, where he was accompanied by Gigi Hadid and Bradley Cooper. The couple then enjoyed a vacation in Lake Como, Italy.
When previously asked about the possibility of getting engaged to the 14-time Grammy winner, Kelce focused on his professional goals. “I’m focused on getting this ring,” he told reporters at a February 5 press conference before the 2024 Super Bowl, which the Chiefs won against the San Francisco 49ers.
