Huangdi is the son of Shaodian, the king of Xiong. According to legend, Huangdi was different from the moment he was born, speaking and walking in nine months. When he grew up, he had a good moral cultivation, was smart and capable, so he was elected as the leader of the tribal alliance.
At that time, conflicts and wars between the various tribes often occurred, forming a situation where the Yellow Emperor, the Yan Emperor and Chi You were in a three-legged situation. The people were displaced and miserable. The emperor was determined to fight against those cruel and unkind who harmed the people.
Huangdi first set his sights on the Yandi tribe, which frequently invaded. In order to achieve victory, Huangdi made full preparations, such as strengthening military-civilian unity, boosting morale, actively developing production, and uniting the major tribes with Xiong, Wei, and Pixiu as their totems to strengthen their own strength.
The two sides fought a decisive battle in Banquan (approximately southeast of Zhuolu, Hebei). After several battles, the Yellow Emperor defeated the Emperor Yan, and the two tribes merged into one.
Another tribal leader of the Jiuli tribe is Chi You. He is good at fighting, but he is extremely cruel. It is said that Chi Youbuluo was the first tribe to use metal as weapons. Chi You has eighty-one brothers, each with a body as strong as a beast, and powerful. In three years, the emperor fought nine battles with Chi You but failed to win, which shows the power of the Chi You tribe.
For the sake of the peace of the world, Huang Di was not discouraged, he assembled the tribe in Zhuolu to start the final battle with Chi You. The Yellow Emperor ordered Yinglong to attack Chi You first, and Chi You asked Feng Bo and Yushi to come to help. There was a strong wind and heavy rain, which put the Yellow Emperor's army into a desperate situation. Not to be outdone, the Yellow Emperor asked a goddess named Yan to help. She is a drought god, and immediately dispelled the wind and rain. The emperor took advantage of the attack and won a big victory, captured and killed Chi You, and since then unified the tribes of the Central Plains. When he held a grand ceremony to confer Zen in Mount Tai, a huge earthworm suddenly appeared, with a yellow body. People believed that this was the auspicious image of the land, and Xuanyuan was honored as the "Yellow Emperor."
The Yellow Emperor has been in power for a long time, and the state is prosperous during his reign. Political stability, cultural progress, there are many inventions and creations. He taught everyone to plant grains, domesticate birds and beasts, and lead the people to settle down in the Central Plains of the Yellow River Basin, which led to the further development of primitive agriculture at that time. In order to facilitate traffic on both sides of the Yellow River, the emperor also created boats and cars, and his historian Cangjie created the earliest hieroglyphics. His courtier Da Nao created the heavenly stems and earthly branches of records, year, month, day, and time. In music, he invented instruments such as chimes and drums. The Huangdi also ordered a musician named Linglun to use bamboo to make a lute, set the five-tone twelve temperament, and correct various instruments so that different instruments can be played together in harmony. Huangdi's wife Leizu saw people wearing animal skins in winter and no clothes to wear in summer, so she invented the method of raising silkworms to make silk clothes.
During the Yellow Emperor's reign, a unique Chinese civilization based on agricultural civilization was formed. According to legend, Yao, Shun, Yu, Gaotao, Boyi, Tang, etc. are all his descendants, and his great achievements are enough to celebrate the ages.
Huangdi was the leader of the China Tribal Alliance in ancient times. People of later generations attributed many cultural inventions to him, such as writing, music, calendars, palaces, boats, clothes and guide cars, etc., and even used the ancient very powerful long-range weapons-- -The crossbow machine is also said to be invented by the Yellow Emperor. Therefore, he is honored as "the first ancestor of Chinese humanities" after the death of Emperor Huang, he was buried in Qiaoshan, today's Huangling, Shanxi. But no matter what the legend, the emperor is a milestone in the history of the development of the Chinese nation.
