NEW YORK (NEWSnet/AP) — Your Google search history for 2023 has arrived.
Well, actually, the world’s search history.
On Monday, the California-based tech giant released its "Year in Search," a roundup of 2023’s most popular global queries, ranging from summer blockbuster movies to tragic news with worldwide repercussions. The report looks at queries made from Jan. 1 through Nov. 27 of this year.
The top searches in news included the Israel-Hamas War. This was followed by the searches related to the Titanic-bound submersible that imploded under water in June and earthquakes that happened during February in Turkey and Syria.
Top searches in people or personalities included Damar Hamlin, a safety for the NFL’s Buffalo Bills who experienced cardiac arrest on the field in January. He has since recovered. Searches for news and information relating to Hamlin were followed by actor Jeremy Renner, who survived a serious snowplow accident.
Top searches for information about notable individuals who died in 2023 included Matthew Perry and Tina Turner.
For movies, “Barbie” dominated Google search’s movie trends this year — followed by Barbenheimer co-pilot “Oppenheimer” and Indian thriller “Jawan.” In TV, “The Last of Us,” “Wednesday” and “Ginny and Georgia” were the top three trending shows in 2023.
There’s other data such as top trending songs, trending recipes and definitions of trending slang.
