The letter, sent by ten retired FBI directors and experts in counterintelligence, was addressed to key congressional leaders, including GOP House Speaker Mike Johnson (La.), Democratic Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (N.Y.), and the chairs of House and Senate intelligence and homeland security committees. It describes the current border situation as an “invasion,” with military-age men from various countries, some potentially hostile to the U.S., entering the country in large numbers.
The former intelligence officials highlighted the shift in demographics of those crossing the border since 2021, with an increasing number of military-aged men from around the world, including countries with terror links, China, and Russia. They raised concerns about the potential for these individuals to pose significant security risks, including the possibility of mimicking successful terror attacks like the Hamas attack on Israel on October 7.
