Lesley Wolf, a former Delaware Assistant U.S. Attorney involved in the Hunter Biden investigation, has recently joined the Philadelphia-based Ballard Spahr LLP law firm. This move comes after her departure from the Department of Justice (DOJ), amidst IRS whistleblower accusations that she had protected Joe and Hunter Biden during the DOJ’s criminal investigation into the president’s son. Wolf’s transition to Ballard Spahr was confirmed by her LinkedIn profile and the firm’s page, as well as being first reported by Marco Polo, a nonprofit research firm.
NEW: @MarcoPolo501c3 discovered that Lesley Wolf's PA Bar info changed within the last 24 hours. LinkedIn, too. The Democrat DOJ operative who covered for @JoeBiden has landed softly at @BallardSpahrLLP, unsurprisingly, given the firm's donation history.@LinkedIn:… pic.twitter.com/6Aw1gBVLBI

Wolf faced scrutiny over her role in the investigation, particularly following an email she sent to FBI Agent Joshua Wilson in August 2020, concerning a search warrant for lobbying firm Blue Star Strategies. This firm was associated with Ukrainian Energy Firm Burisma while Hunter Biden was on its board, and then-Vice President Joe Biden oversaw the Obama administration’s Ukraine strategy.
READ THE EMAIL:
The IRS whistleblowers, Gary Shapley and Joseph Ziegler, highlighted Wolf’s conduct in their testimony before the House Ways and Means Committee, alleging that she had slowed down investigative steps and ignored potential campaign finance issues related to Hunter Biden’s dealings.
Despite the controversy, Delaware U.S. Attorney David Weiss defended Wolf and his team during his testimony before the House Judiciary Committee. Attorney General Merrick Garland declined to comment on Wolf’s involvement in the case when he testified in September.
Wolf was also integral in negotiating a failed guilty plea agreement between the Delaware U.S. Attorney’s office and Hunter Biden, as confirmed in a court filing by Biden’s former defense attorney Christopher J. Clark.
The failed plea deal, scrutinized by Delaware U.S. District Judge Maryellen Noreika, eventually collapsed, leading to Hunter Biden being indicted on federal gun charges in Delaware. Following the collapse of the plea deal, Garland appointed Weiss as special counsel, and Hunter Biden later pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Wolf’s new role at Ballard Spahr marks a significant career shift following her controversial tenure at the DOJ and her involvement in high-profile political cases.
