Fitchburg National Night Out offers free fun and community

FITCHBURG — The Fitchburg Police Department is once again inviting community members to come and mingle with the people in local law enforcement during the annual summertime event National Night Out, which is also held in communities across the country.

The event, held at Lowe Playground at 174 Elm St., will be held this evening from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. and the department is providing a whole host of incentives to get area residents to stop by.

In addition educating the public about a wide variety of community resources, the department each year hopes to use the time as an opportunity to build a stronger tie between the police department and their residents.

But they also just want people to have some access too free fun. Attendees will find live music, free dinner, snacks, games free entertainment for families and a ton of community resources.

Of the community resources available at Fitchburg’s National Night Out, police say that will include a range of mental health services that many may not know are available. The event is sponsored by the Fitchburg Police Department, the City of Fitchburg, NewVue, Three Pyramids, intown Fitchburg and, of course, the national organization National Night Out.
