Filip Forsberg’s thrilling overtime goal secured a 6-5 victory for the Nashville Predators against the Carolina Hurricanes on Friday night, marking his third overtime goal of the season. The Predators displayed resilience, overcoming a two-goal deficit to claim their sixth win in seven games. Forsberg, with his team-leading 16th goal, played a crucial role in Nashville’s perfect 5-0 record in games extending beyond regulation.
Roman Josi contributed with a goal and two assists, while Ryan O’Reilly, Jusso Parssinen, Tyson Barire, and Jeremy Lauzon also found the net. Kevin Lankinen’s 25 saves bolstered the Predators’ performance.
Stefan Noesen and Martin Necas, with a goal and an assist each, led the Hurricanes’ efforts. Tony DeAngelo, Jalen Chatfield, and Sebastian Aho also scored, with Michael Bunting providing two assists. Despite returning from a challenging 2-4 trip, Antti Raanta made 24 saves for the Hurricanes.
Lauzon’s tying goal with 9:03 remaining in regulation showcased the Predators’ determination. The game featured a flurry of goals, with six scored in a 6 1/2-minute stretch during the second period.
Looking ahead, the Predators are set to host the Washington Capitals on Saturday night, while the Hurricanes will face the Capitals again on Sunday night.
