Chinese Air Force Eastern Theater Airfields facing Taiwan

These are the Eastern Theater PLAAF (People’s Liberation Army Air Force) major airfields closest to Taiwan.

Red arc to the right of Taiwan is possible radar coverage for the Chinese S-300/400 air defense missile systems and also possible engagement range depending on scenario factors.  This means American aircraft approaching from the East need to start being careful at this red arc.

The Red and Yellow PLAAF Base ovals (except maybe Changxing) are possibly in range of the Taiwanese HF-2E missiles (roughly equivalent to our Tomahawk missiles). Ranges and quantities of the HF-2E are not known, but enough to keep the Chinese airbases under duress while still engaging Chinese ports, naval bases, and amphibious ships marshaling and moving toward Taiwan.

The Chinese know this and are working on their rapid airbase repair and reconstitution capabilities to put their airfields back in operation. These airfields have numerous hardened aircraft shelters and revetments to protect aircraft on the ground. Back up runways are noticed at one of the bases as close by stretches of highway that are straighter and wider than the rest of the highway.
