A Kite, a Wish, and a Kind Heart

Liam loved flying kites.

He had a very special red kite that his mom had made just for him. 

Every time it soared into the sky, it flew like a bird—high, strong, and free.One breezy afternoon, Liam was flying his kite in the open field behind his school.

The wind was strong, and the red kite soared higher and farther than ever. But suddenly—snap! The string broke!

The kite drifted away, flying farther and farther until it disappeared over the trees and landed somewhere on a small hill.

Liam ran after it and found the kite caught behind a large rock. 

As he got closer, he noticed something strange—the rock was glowing softly.

Then, to his surprise, the rock spoke:

“Is this your kite?”

Liam jumped back, startled, then nodded. “Yes, it is.”

The rock chuckled. “I’m a magic wishing stone. You may make one wish.”

Liam thought for a moment. “I wish I could have a new toy every day!”

The rock replied kindly, “I can grant that wish. But tell me—do you know anyone else who could use a little help?”

Liam paused. He thought of Noah, a quiet boy in his class who never had any toys and always sat alone, watching the others play.

He looked down and said, “Actually… I don’t need new toys every day. Could you give Noah a wish instead?”

The rock shimmered brightly. “What a kind heart. You don’t need to say it—I already know what your heart wishes for.”

The next day, Noah found a beautiful blue kite sitting on his desk. A note on it read:
“For someone who knows how to share happiness.”

Noah’s eyes lit up, and Liam smiled too.

From that day on, Liam and Noah flew kites together, ran together, and laughed together.

As for the magic rock, it lay quietly behind the hill and never glowed again. 

But every child who walked past that spot would say—

“The wind here feels especially warm.”
