In the quaint town of Nacogdoches, Texas, an extraordinary musical duo has been capturing hearts around the world. It’s not just a girl with her piano—it’s a girl and her dog, Goose, singing together in perfect harmony. This adorable pair, Ashton Biggs and her 10-year-old Treeing Walker Coonhound, have turned their living room into a stage for some of the most heartwarming and unique performances. From the timeless Bohemian Rhapsody to the soulful Hallelujah, this duo has shown the world that music has the power to create beautiful connections—especially between a girl and her four-legged best friend.
Ashton, a full-time student and a music major, never imagined that her beloved Goose would become her musical partner. But during the pandemic in 2020, something magical happened. “One day I had started playing the piano for fun when he happened to be in the house, and he approached the piano and started howling with his beautiful bay,” Ashton recalls. And just like that, a routine was born. Now, every time Ashton plays her piano, Goose is right there beside her, howling along to the tunes in his own special way.

What’s most endearing about this incredible bond is how Goose has developed his own preferences. Although he only started hearing the piano in 2020, he quickly picked up on his favorite songs. “As I learned more songs, he started to show favoritism to some songs over others,” Ashton says. Goose's tail wags more enthusiastically, his eyes close, and his howls become longer and more drawn out when a tune he loves is played. And no song excites him quite like Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen. "When I play a song he loves, his tail wags more enthusiastically," Ashton adds with a smile. "He'll tilt his head back, close his eyes, and his bays are much longer and more drawn out. He tends to match the pitch more accurately too.”

It's remarkable how Goose, who has always been sensitive to loud noises like fireworks or clapping hands, finds peace and joy in the piano’s melodies. At first, Ashton thought it was a fluke—a one-time occurrence. But as the days went by, Goose would wake up and run straight to the piano, eager to start their musical sessions. "Eventually, we would wake up and he would run to the piano and start barking and screaming for me to play," Ashton shares. "Once I play, and he gets to sing for a little bit, he would go outside and carry on with the rest of his day!"

Their performances, though spontaneous, have become a regular and cherished part of their day. Goose is always ready to join in, his little vocal contributions filling the air with joy. And although Ashton has experimented with other instruments, Goose remains unwavering in his love for the piano. “He’s not a fan of the trumpet or any other brass instruments,” Ashton explains. “I’m assuming he doesn't like these instruments because they are very bright and loud and produce frequencies that hurt his ears. But he likes the guitar, though he isn’t as enthusiastic about it as the piano. Goose is much more of a string-based instruments dog than a wind instruments dog.”

This heartwarming story isn’t just about a dog singing along to a piano—it’s about the incredible bond that can form between an animal and a human through shared experiences. Ashton and Goose remind us all that music is a universal language, one that brings joy, connection, and even a bit of surprise in the most unexpected ways.
As Goose howls in harmony with Ashton’s melodies, the world is reminded that sometimes, the most beautiful symphonies come from the simplest moments—like a girl and her dog, making music together.
