The Republicans successfully retained two House Seats left by former Rep. Matt Gaetz and former Rep. Mike Waltz in Florida's special elections on Tuesday.
State Senator Randy Fine beat Democrat Josh Weil, a progressive and a teacher, to win Florida's 6th congressional district. He will replace Waltz, who joined the Trump administration as National Security Adviser.
Florida's Chief Financial Officer Jimmy Patronis fended off a challenge from Democrat Gay Valimont to win Florida's 1st Congressional district.
Patronis will fill the northwest Florida seat vacated by Gaetz, who was tapped to be Trump's attorney general but dropped out amid allegations of sexual misconduct, which he has denied.
