GOSHEN – A 26-year-old New Windsor man is expected to be sentenced to 18 years in state prison followed by five years of post-release supervision following his .
Cameron Williams admitted that after a late-night altercation with another man in the City of Newburgh, he retrieved several kitchen knives from a residence, approached the man, Matthew Irene, 38, on the ground on West Parmenter Street and repeatedly stabbed him resulting in his death.
Newburgh City Police investigated and developed information pointing to Williams.
“The act of senseless violence committed by this defendant calls for stiff and meaningful punishment,” said District Attorney David Hoovler. “While the defendant’s plea and promised sentence cannot bring the victim back, I hope that the resolution offers the friends and family of the victim a degree of closure.”
