Town and city cops peacefully end Innis Avenue standoff

TOWN OF POUGHKEEPSIE – An allegedly emotionally disturbed person barricaded in a house on Innis Avenue resulted in a large police presence on Innis Avenue Tuesday night.  Town of Poughkeepsie Police responded to the area of 202 Innis Avenue just before 9:30 p.m. For safety concerns, Innis Avenue between Caywood Road and the southern Jackman Drive entrance was closed to traffic until the call was cleared.

Units from the City of Poughkeepsie Police also responded to assist.

At one point, an EMS unit was assisted to go on standby in the vicinity of the call, located just north of the Shell gas station.

Police indicated the call was discontinued at 9:35 p.m., and the city cops were able to return to their jurisdiction.
