Coby White continued his red-hot scoring streak, dropping 31 points to lead the Chicago Bulls to a thrilling 116-110 comeback win over the Brooklyn Nets on Thursday night. White extended his career-best streak of 20-point games to seven, fueling the Bulls’ rally and securing their season-high fourth straight victory. Chicago (28-38) remains in 10th place in the Eastern Conference, holding onto the final play-in tournament spot.
The game seemed to be slipping away from Chicago when Brooklyn built a 92-80 lead late in the third quarter. However, the Bulls responded with a 17-3 run that completely changed the momentum. The Nets still held a narrow 101-99 advantage with just under five minutes left, but Chicago took over down the stretch, scoring eight straight points. Tre Jones’ reverse layup extended the Bulls’ lead to six with under three minutes remaining, sealing the win.
Jones had a strong all-around performance, finishing with 18 points, while Kevin Huerter also contributed 18 points and nine rebounds. Rookie Julian Phillips made the most of his opportunity, setting career highs with 16 points, seven rebounds, and five assists in an impressive outing.
Brooklyn (25-40) suffered yet another disappointing loss, continuing their late-game struggles. The Nets have now dropped 10 of their last 12 games, often failing to protect sizable leads. Cam Thomas led Brooklyn with 24 points and a career-high 10 assists, while Nic Claxton recorded 18 points and a season-best 14 rebounds. Tyrese Martin added 19 points, and Cam Johnson finished with 16, but the Nets couldn’t stop the Bulls’ late surge.
This loss was all too familiar for Brooklyn. Just two nights ago, the Nets allowed Cleveland to erase an 18-point third-quarter deficit to steal a win. Against Chicago, the script was similar—Brooklyn let a 12-point lead slip away, raising more concerns about their ability to close games.
Chicago’s win was even more impressive considering they were without Josh Giddey, who sat out with a sprained right ankle suffered in Monday’s victory over Indiana. The Bulls are hopeful he can return during their upcoming six-game road trip.
White’s scoring explosion has been a key factor in Chicago’s recent success. Over his last seven games, he is averaging an impressive 28.6 points per contest. If he continues this level of play, the Bulls could strengthen their hold on a play-in spot and potentially climb the standings.
