On Feb. 25, Tulsi Gabbard, Trump’s newly confirmed Director of National Intelligence, terminated over 100 employees from the National Security Agency (NSA) and other agencies after it was discovered that they were engaging in sexually explicit and unprofessional conversations on a secure government chat platform.
In conversation with Fox News on Tuesday, Gabbard said, “They were brazen in using an NSA platform intended for professional use to conduct this kind of really, really horrific behavior.”
The platform, established to conduct conversations about sensitive security matters, was reportedly being used to discuss topics including polyamory, gender transition surgery, sexual fetishes and other personal or explicit topics.
The behaviour was uncovered and first reported by Christopher Rufo, who is affiliated with the Manhattan Institute and is also a conservative activist.
In a statement published Tuesday the NSA said that it was “aware of posts that appear to show inappropriate discussions by personnel.”

“Potential misuse of these platforms by a small group of individuals does not represent the community,” the NSA insisted.
After being made aware of the issue, Gabbard’s deputy chief of staff, Alexa Henning, took to X, posting, “The DNI sent a memo directing all intelligence agencies to identify the employees who participated in the NSA’s ‘obscene, pornographic, and sexually explicit’ chatrooms and to terminate their employment and revoke their security clearances. Deadline: Friday.”
‘Egregious violation of trust’
The employees who have lost their jobs hail from the NSA, CIA and DIA, Rufo reported.
“There are over 100 people from across the intelligence community that contributed to and participated in… what is really just an egregious violation of trust. What to speak of, like basic rules and standards around professionalism,” Gabbard told Fox News.
According to Rufo, the chat rooms where the explicit messages were shared were titled, “LBTQA” and “IC_Pride_TWG.”
One discussion was about an individual who had undergone genital reconstructive surgery that allowed the agent to “wear leggings or bikinis without having to wear a [protective piece of clothing] under it,” according to Rufo’s reporting.
Laser hair removal was also discussed, with one participant writing, “Getting my b***hole zapped by a laser was…shocking,” while another wrote, “Look, I just enjoy helping other people experience boobs,” comments concerning estrogen injections.
When confronted about the chats, the NSA posted to X while limiting replies, “NSA is aware of posts that appear to show inappropriate discussions by IC personnel. IC collaboration platforms are intended to drive mission outcomes. Potential misuse of these platforms by a small group of individuals does not represent the community. Investigations to address this misuse of government systems are ongoing.”
Cleaning house
Gabbard told Fox News that efforts to hold the offending employees accountable was part of her “mission to clean house,” working in lockstep with both President Trump and Elon Musk.
In a post to X, Gabbard wrote, “This behavior is unacceptable and those involved WILL be held accountable. These disgusting chat groups were immediately shut down when @POTUS issued his EO ending DEI insanity the Biden Admin was obsessed with. Our IC must be focused on our core mission: ensuring the safety, security, and freedom of the American people.”
