I hope this finds you all well and safe, especially with regard to the raging fires in the Los Angeles area, USA. 

Did you see my last article where I mentioned that you get your own little crown when you have your own GanJing World channel? I like the idea of having your own “kingdom” in GanJing World. It means that you can think of yourself as the king or queen of your own 'kingdom' (channel) in GanJing World. You are free to rule your 'kingdom' as you see fit. In a different sense, it also means that you are taking responsibility for your 'kingdom', for it will be your responsibility for what your 'kingdom' will be known for.

Getting started can be scary

A lot of my friends like the GanJing World platform, but they are reluctant to post content of their own.

Getting started can be scary - sometimes it is easier to gain the courage to take the first steps if you can read about the experiences of others. I hope this article will help you on your own creative journey to build your own channel or 'as I like to call it, your kingdom' on GanJing World.

I completely understand that publishing your own thoughts, ideas or views can be scary. You might feel like you suddenly have a huge responsibility on your shoulders, or that the whole world will judge your content, and if you make a mistake or a bad content decision, you don't want to think about how it will make you feel.

To be honest, I felt that way. In 2022, when my husband and I were asked to contribute to GanJing World, we started thinking about what kind of content we would like to capture for our collaboration with our now long-time video editor, and we discussed a few ideas.

Trialling our different ideas 

One idea was to help the GanJing World channel 'Yummy World' and we filmed a video of cheese making and our video editor and her team helped with the editing. It was difficult because the spoken language in the video is Swiss German, spoken by only 5.5 million people (62.3% of our total population of 8.85 million Swiss). Our editors in the USA and Belgium, who do not speak German, did not understand the interviewee or my questions to the cheesemaker. The video editing process was difficult and took a long time. Here you can see the result of that collaboration:

So the idea of making more videos like that was abandoned.

We tried some new ideas where I had to stand in front of the camera and talk to our viewers in English. I was terrified. When the camera is on me, I'm like a deer in the headlights. I freeze up, I get nervous and everything I do looks unnatural...

Our editor friend encouraged me to try it, and we shot some footage of cooking, a cultural event and other content, but I felt so uncomfortable that I begged to drop that idea too.

Then our editor said she was making another channel with relaxing music and asked if we wanted to contribute. My husband and I agreed. We would film nature, mainly here in Switzerland, and our editor in the USA would add the music. I insisted that it should be classical music played on real instruments, because I do not like digitally produced music. The others agreed.

The GanJing World Channel 'Classical Music and Nature' was born

In the summer of 2022 we started filming Swiss nature for the channel and in the autumn we began to publish our first videos on 'Classical Music and Nature', later we decided to publish 6 videos a week. Just over a year ago we were asked to sign an exclusive contract with GanJing World. This means that we will continue to publish our 'Classical Music and Nature', videos exclusively on GanJing World.

Currently, we have the honour of having over 3100 subscribers and 650 videos published on our exclusive GanJing World 'Classical Music and Nature' channel.

Staying true to who we are

It was important for me to stay true to myself when I saw that an idea we had been working on for a while wasn't working, and to explore what we really wanted to create. I have loved classical music since I was a child. I like to lie on my back in the shade of a big tree and watch the white clouds drift across the blue sky. It is so calming. I do not like nature videos that loop or have hasty camera movements so that you cannot relax while watching them. Step by step we decided what and how we wanted to create our channel. There will be no camera movement, only movement within the video. We will have a calm heart while filming, so our video will reflect this calmness.

We will not change anything in nature, we will film what is there naturally. We will not drive on private roads so that others can visit the places we film without getting into trouble.

Once we had established what and how, we just kept going, releasing 6 videos a week.

We are grateful to have been part of this process since the summer of 2022.

Be brave and start filling your channel with your own content

It's not difficult or impossible. And you will find that posting on GanJing World feels very different from posting on other social media platforms.

I wrote about the beginning of our 'Classical Music and Nature', channel to let you know that it is not hard to create a channel. For your channel to be successful, you need persistence and commitment.

And to be honest, it was a great help to have the three of us sharing the content creation work between us.

If you are not sure what to post or what to focus on in your own GJW channel, create your videos, shorts, posts and articles and set the 'Visibility' to 'Unlisted'. Your content will not be searchable on GanJing World and will only be visible to those to whom you have sent the content link. Ask for feedback from your trusted friends and/or family.
