Emmanuel Rivera Powers Orioles Past Twins with Two Homers
Emmanuel Rivera delivered a standout performance on Saturday night, going 4-for-4 with two home runs and four RBIs as the Baltimore Orioles dominated the Minnesota Twins, 9-2, in Minneapolis. Rivera’s explosive outing contributed significantly to the Orioles’ success, helping them achieve back-to-back 90-plus-win seasons for the first time since 1982-83.

Ryan O’Hearn also made an impact, finishing 2-for-5 with a two-run homer, while Adley Rutschman added two RBIs to the mix. The Orioles quickly established control of the game, taking a 2-0 lead in the first inning when O’Hearn launched his career-best 15th home run.

Baltimore extended its lead in the second inning, with Rivera smashing a 442-foot, two-run shot to center field, followed by Rutschman’s RBI single that pushed the score to 5-0. Rivera wasn’t done, as he added an RBI double in the third, bringing the score to 6-0.

The Orioles continued to pile on the runs, with Rutschman doubling to start the fourth, advancing to third on an O’Hearn single, and scoring on Ryan Mountcastle’s sacrifice fly. Rivera capped off his stellar night with a 405-foot solo homer in the fifth, his second of the game and fifth of the season.

In the seventh, Baltimore pushed its lead to 9-0 with Rutschman’s RBI groundout, scoring Rivera, who had led off the inning with a walk. The Twins managed to get on the board in the ninth with Ryan Jeffers hitting a two-run homer, but it was too little, too late as Minnesota suffered its sixth loss in seven games.

Orioles pitcher Tucker Davidson earned his first career win, pitching 4 2/3 innings in his season debut, while Zebby Matthews struggled for the Twins, allowing six runs in just three innings of work. The Orioles’ offensive display showcased their potential as they look to secure a strong finish to the season.
